Before you can start making payments online with your ATM Card (credit or debit), you need to activate it for the so called 3D Secure Authentication. This payer authentication is a security protocol which helps to prevent fraud when performing online transactions with a credit or debit card. It's an additional security to your ATM Card PIN which ensures that even if someone have access to your card details including your PIN, making payment online will still be impossible without your consent.
But this 3D Secure authentication may not come activated on your issued ATM card, esp. if it's Verve Card. MasterCard and Visa are usually activated with 3D Secure at the time of issuance. So, if you are using a Verve Card, what's most likely is that your card is not activated for this 3D Secure authentication and so you'll not be able to perform online transactions.
All you need to do is to visit the nearest ATM machine and follow the below procedure to activate your Verve card for the 3D Secure service which allows you to receive OTP when doing online transactions.
You can now go ahead and start performing online transactions such as buying products on Jumia, purchasing airtime, bill payments, TV Subscriptions on Jumia One or OPay app and so on.

How 3D Secure Authentication Works
After entering your card details and PIN on the platform you want to make payments online, the 3D Secure service will direct you to the 3D Secure page where a 5-8 digits security code will be generated by your bank and sent to the phone number registered with your bank and then you'll be asked to enter this code on the page. This security code is known as OTP (One Time Password). OTP is a security code that's valid for only one login session or transaction in this case and which provides extra layer of security for the user when performing online transactions. And while the OTP expires in few minutes, DO NOT DISCLOSE IT TO ANYONE!!Having Problems with Making Payment Online?
